Thank the media for the traffic jam.
If yesterday’s truck accident wasn’t bad enough, rubberneckers and news crews caused a huge tieup and traffic jam hours after the accident was completely cleaned up yesterday. During rush hour on the commute home, dozens of reporters, multiple news vans, satellite vans and state troopers were still camped out in the grass at the junction […]

The Snap Server 2200 isn’t worth the plastic it’s housed in…
Our Snap Server 2200 has failed for the third time in 12 months resulting in total data loss. The first time was due to a software hiccup where the disk lost its drive configuration. The second and third times were due to physical disk failure. Since the disk was configured for RAID0 (striping), a single […]
DMS50s held up in US Customs…
Lachute shipped out my DMS50s at the end August and they’re still sitting at US Customs being torn down and inspected. No idea when they’ll be showing up. Bastards.
I kind of feel like God…
It’s rather unnerving to get into Route 128 South at 9:45 AM during the peak of rush hour and to be the only car on the road. No cars on front of me all the way to the hill. No cars behind me, except for a rolled over tanker. Woah.
I decommissioned wastegate…
Well, wastegate.tsd.trunkmonkey.com was finally decommissioned this evening. The last of the Web sites were finally moved over to boost.tsd.trunkmonkey.com (Athlon XP 2400+). It’s amusing that wastegate (P2/400) was a Linux box that I confiscated from an old customer for non-payment and served me well for an additional two and a half years. Ohwell…one less server […]

Safari 1.0 background-repeat CSS bug…
I’ve been fighting with CSS all afternoon at work trying to get background-repeat to render properly. Turns out Safari 1.0 is broken. Bowl of suck. http://www.onda-media.com/jani/archive/safari_bug/ http://www.xs4all.nl/~mosm/Opinion/Articles/safari_bug.html http://mamamusings.net/archives/2003/08/08/css_frustration.php http://www.google.com/search?q=safari+css+background+scroll It looks like it will be fixed in the next version. And there was much rejoicing.

Looking for studio monitor headphones…
I’m looking for an inexpensive set of headphones I can use for video editing. Prerequisites are price and noise suppression. Basically, I need a set of decent headphones with good range around $30 that will easily suppress the whine of the four servers sitting on a rack five feet from my head. A cow-orker pointed […]
